Teacher Training Workshop

In February, under the collaboration between Safe Kids Thailand (SKT) /CSIP, the Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 (under Ministry of Education) in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province and Chon Buri Province, and University Student volunteers has organized the Teacher Training Workshop to 144 teachers from 113 schools in the two provinces, 60 teachers of 56 schools in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province and 84 teachers of 57 schools in Chon Buri Province.

Concept of the campaign was about educating teachers so that they can teach their students. Teachers learned about safety materials and methods related to child pedestrians. After the training, each school received 1 set of educational tool (such as photo or media-related to pedestrian safety, survey questions / behavioral survey, safety kits or manuals).

Trained teachers’ knowledge among 60 teachers in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province increased from 82.90% up to 93.62%, and among 84 teachers in Chon Buri Province increased from 81.63% up to 92.43%. Each trained teacher will conduct education with students in each of their schools.

Moreover, most of them felt more confident in teaching this subject, felt interested in this type of training because it was not serious and different from other training and gave positive comments about workshops are a useful and helpful method for teachers in preparing and conducting traffic safety lessons at school. And we had recommended from them to expand this type of training to other provinces.
