Safe Kids Walk This Way Thailand
September 2011 activity

WTW and PHOTOVOICE Camp (Extension project to other provinces)

On September 2- 4, Safe Kids Thailand club held educational sessions for teachers and 24 leader students from 3 schools in Rayong Province to spread awareness on how to prevent pedestrian injury through the learning station; “My Route to School” and also to expand the child pedestrian education model to schools to be used in the future. And the highlight of this camp is PHOTOVOICE project. Activities for the project included photography training for students, observational research field trips and discussion of photo selection. The photos gathered the risk prone pedestrian areas. We also set up ‘Thailand PHOTOVOICE club’ and Rayong is the first member of this club called Rayong PHOTOVOICE club. And we will use these photos that taken by students to exhibit to spark public awareness.

From the map of “My Route to School” learning station,
SKT adapted the game to play in a wide space.

Students presented their photo selection.

WTW Program Promotion
(The meeting of Board of Community Empowerment for Injury and Disaster Prevention, National Safety Council)

On September 21, Safe Kids Thailand team presented a WTW program and some materials that created for education and public awareness to the Board of Community Empowerment for Injury and Disaster Prevention, National Safety Council. And the highlights are photos of PHOTOVOICE Project and WTW song “Stop-Look-Listen-Think-Walk”. A chairman and committees were interested of both and some of the committees would like to share the program activities and tools to be used in their safety work, especially PHOTOVOICE and educational materials. We think that is a good beginning and an opportunity to push a child pedestrian safety issue and WTW program as a national level.
