PHOTOVOICE Project in Nakhon Pathom

During December 15, 2018 to March 31, 2019 – – After PHOTOVOICE Training, the completion of all PHOTOVOICE activities in 14 schools under the Office of Nakhon Pathom Primary Education Area Zone 1 and 2 found that more than 1,033 students engaged, 67 teachers engaged, 222 parents engaged, and 78 participants including local government, police, and community leaders, 98 selected photos of risky environments taken by children, 14 of exhibitions in-schools with more than 1,400 participants. After PHOTOVOICE exhibition, 4 schools completed a total of 7 risk improvement, and 10 schools have a plan of the environmental modification to be continued.

This was first time the PHOTOVOICE project promoted pedestrian safety and road safety in Nakhon Pathom province. In addition, this project inspired children to express themselves and their opinions about their environment using photography.

Safe Kids Thailand received positive feedback on the creative way of educating students about pedestrian safety and road safety by using the PHOTOVOICE.

From the achievement, Pattarathida Suwannawong, a student of Anuban Kamphaeng Saen school which is one of the schools in PHOTOVOICE project was invited as a young speaker at the 14th National Seminar on Road Safety, on August 7, 2019 at BITEC to present an accident that occurred while walking to/from school and the impact of PHOTOVOICE activity in the schools.
