The opening of the first Safe School Zone in Thailand

14 November 2015 – – Safe Kids Thailand, FedEx, Nan Municipality, Nan Hospital, and FedEx celebrated the opening of the first Safe School Zone in Thailand at Jumpeewanidaporn School in Nan Province with 150 participation of students, teachers, parents, community and municipal leaders, police, hospital, and also 13 local media attended. Mr. Surapol Teinsoot, Mayor of Nan Municipality and Mr. David Carden, Managing Director, FedEx Express Thailand and Indochina, had speech at the opening ceremony. All guests visited the completed 13 environment modifications.



The purpose of Safe School Zone project is to improve the safety of pedestrians around schools by evaluating the school zone and implementing different interventions, with a focus on permanent environmental improvements. This project will serve as an example to other schools, governments and organizations working to improve safety. The project will demonstrate the need to identify environmental and behavioral risks, the effectiveness of multi-level interventions, and the value of data. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate that the Safe School Zone project is effective in reducing the number of collisions, injuries, and fatalities on the road.
